Puck Shots

1. Indians not getting loans in Malaysia
A business lobby of Malaysian Indians has claimed that the government financing agency Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia (AIM) has not given loans to poor Indians.

Lately, all this racist claims has been heard more frequently.

2. Honour the ICJ's Ruling on Pulau Batu Puteh
Singapore and Malaysia have reiterated their commitment to honour and abide by the International Court of Justice’s judgment on Pulau Batu Puteh, Middle Rocks and South Ledge.

Yeah, Singapore got a 'Pulau' and Malaysia got 'Batu'. Sounds fair doesn't it? Oh i forgot... It's a Win Win situation!

3. Defectors or Traitors?
Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim says he is seeking to win over 30 defectors from the ruling Barisan Nasional coalition to form a new government by his self-imposed deadline of September 16. Anwar said his opposition alliance would not use money or blackmail to woo defectors.

He claimed, “The MPs can see the trend among the people who are demanding change and that’s why they are keen to support a party that is fair to all races.”

Here we have Anwar calling those 30 MPs as defectors. The thruth is, defectors are simply traitors. No money? Then why would one MP from Sabah claimed he was offered a bribe that is so huge that he plus 3 of his future generations would live in a live of luxury?

Demanding change? What change? People? Who are these 'people'? If 'people' wants 'change', they would have booted out the BN government. I guess we would never know who these 'people' are and what 'change' they would like since the formation of the New Government is done without a General Election. It's going to be a 'Back Door Government'.

4. Government Crackdown on Bloggers
Vocal political bloggers and commentators are bracing for a government crackdown. The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission earlier this week ordered all 19 of the country's Internet service providers to block the controversial political portal Malaysia Today.

Wait a minute. Just because one website was blocked, it doesn't mean the government will be going on a witch hunt for other political bloggers which are critical of the government. The website Malaysia Today own by Raja Petra was ordered to be blocked because it was full of inflamatory comments and 'some' baseless accusations. Raja Petra deliberately continue to fan the flames of anti-government sentimens.

For me, the government should had done it earlier and arrested and have him charged under the Seditious Act.

Dilema pekerja tempatan

Tanda-tanda Kejatuhan Empayar Amerika?

Perubahan skop penerbitan kuasa

Pusat kewangan dunia terunggul, bukan lagi bertumpu di New York sebaliknya London. Dana pelaburan terbesar dunia pula diambil alih Abu Dhabi.

Anwar and his Threats of 16th September.

Anwar Ibrahim slammed a widening deficit in the government's 2009 budget and vowed to unveil a more responsible budget if he topples the ruling coalition this month. He said his plans to seize power from the Barisan Nasional led government through parliamentary defections by Sept. 16 remains on track.

Anwar said he has held talks with ruling party lawmakers and the response was "very good" but declined to elaborate.

Anwar said the opposition's budget will focus on wooing foreign investment by dismantling a 37-year-old affirmative action policy which gives privileges in contracts, jobs, business and education to ethnic Malays.

He bluntly claimed that he would dismantle the controversial positive-discrimination policies for Muslim Malays if he seizes power.

He also said, "Archaic" policies that demand mandatory Malay equity in companies will be removed and open tenders called for all government contracts, currently reserved mostly for Malay companies.

He claimed The New Economic Policy was started in 1971 to help Malays, who form 60 percent of Malaysia's 27 million people, after 1969 violent race riots. But foreign investors and minority groups long complained it amounted to protectionism. The policy has been a stumbling block to Malaysia's plan for a free trade pact with the U.S.

All this is in the international news!

Who is Anwar Ibrahim? He was once part of the government which practised this policies. Now he is singing a different tune. Is he a hypocrite? A Malay traitor? A U.S stooge and agent?

Brace Yourselfs for Cold War II

If Cold War II is coming, who started it?

The swift and decisive action of Russia's army in running the Georgian forces out of South Ossetia in 24 hours after Georgian President Saakashvili began his barrage and invasion suggests Russia's power man Vladimir Putin knew exactly what Saakashvili was up to and dropped the hammer on him.

Had Georgia been in NATO when President Saakashvili invaded South Ossetia, the U.S would be eyeball to eyeball with Russia, facing war in the Caucasus, where Russia's superiority is as great as U.S. superiority in the Caribbean during the Cuban missile crisis. If the Russia-Georgia war proves nothing else, it is the insanity of giving erratic hotheads in volatile nations the power to drag the United States and NATO into war.

How all this started?

The arrogant folly of the architects of U.S. post-Cold War policy is today on display. By bringing three ex-Soviet republics into NATO, they have moved the U.S. red line for war from the Elbe almost to within artillery range of the old Leningrad.

Should the U.S admit Ukraine into NATO, Yalta, vacation resort of the Russian czars, will be a NATO port and Sevastopol, traditional home of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, will become a naval base for the U.S. Sixth Fleet.

This is altogether a bridge too far. Should Russia sits idly by while U.S and NATO encircle Russia? Should Russia allow it's territory to be within striking range of U.S and NATO forces?

Oil and Gas from Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan belonged to Russia since during the Cold War. Can we not understand why Russia would smolder as avaricious Western powers built pipelines to siphon the oil and gas of the Caspian Basin through breakaway Georgia to the West?

For a dozen years, Russia watched as U.S. agents helped to dump over regimes in Ukraine and Georgia that were friendly to Moscow.

If Cold War II is coming, who started it, if not the U.S?

The war in Georgia has exposed the dangerous overextension of U.S. power. There is no way America can fight a war with Russia in the Caucasus with their army tied down in Afghanistan and Iraq. The U.S must decide whether it wants a partner in a flawed Russia or a second Cold War. For if the U.S want another Cold War, they are, by cutting Russia out of the oil of the Caspian and pushing NATO into her face, going about it exactly the right way.

A resurgent Russia is no threat to any vital interests of the United States. It is a threat to an American Empire that presumes some God-given right to plant U.S. military power in the backyard or on the front porch of Mother Russia.

Islamophobia

Muslims have suffered increasing Islamophobia since Sept. 11. Ordinary Muslims feel uncomfortable at work. They are looked at with suspicion, they are regarded with a wary eye. Muslims are frustrated. Frustrated people will become more frustrated. It will create hatred among young people.

They should not treat every Muslims as terrorists. It is outrageous.

The media used terminology such as 'Islamic terrorists', 'Arab terrorists', 'radical Muslims', 'Islamic extremists' and so forth in their coverage of the attacks and their aftermath is inflaming anti-Muslim hysteria. So called experts, many of whom have deep-seated prejudices against Muslims and Arabs, have fed the frenzy with speculations about hypothetical future attacks.

The spate of hate crimes, verbal abuse, harassment, threats, discrimination and violence has affected Muslims around the world and racist hooliganism againts Muslims mosque and properties are on the rise.

The world community must come together to find a way to bridge the gap between people of different cultures, religion, tradition and heritages. We all must put an end to Islamophobia.

Stop the Over Politicking and Threats of Illegitimate Take-Over

Anwar's three party coalition made spectacular gains in the March 8 general elections, increasing the opposition strength from 19 to 82 seats in the 222-member Parliament. Barisan National won with a simple majority of 140 seats, down from its traditional two-thirds majority.

Anwar claims he is now close to getting at least 30 Barisan National's lawmakers to defect so that he can form a new government, and become the next prime minister. It is not clear if Anwar can carry out the threat by his self-imposed deadline of September 16th. This has evidently unnerved the government and the people.

Anwar has mounted a serious challenge to the Barisan Nasional led government, accusing it of corruption and subverting the civil service, the judiciary and the police. He also says minorities are treated unfairly while the majority Malays are given special privileges.

While a slowing economy, dwindling investments, spiraling inflation and a lackluster stock market are major concerns for the country, the nation's attention has been riveted this year by the political fireworks surrounding the 61 year old Anwar.

All this political uncertainties and over politiking is threatening to destabilize the nation. Our leaders have let us down by indulging in too much politicking and polarisation in our multiracial and multi-religious society. There are certain parties which stands to benefit from all this uncertainties.

Efforts by certain parties working to destabilize the country by planning, conspiring and supporting the attempt to seize power through illegitimate means, and without the mandate of the people, must be rejected.

We cannot allow uncertainties to continue, as this will adversely affect foreign investment, economic sentiment and the capital markets. We cannot allow these disturbances to continue.
