The Man: He is a man of vision. Ahead of his time. A leader of nations. An admiration of his people. His love for his country is unquestionable. Strict and tough on the outside but gentle by heart. The love for his country is strong regardless of his age. A fighter, a warrior and a lover. All for the country and it's people. Hated my few but loved by many.
The Moment: He had a vision. A progressive, harmonious and tolerant Malaysia. He has turn the country from a agriculture base economy into a modern industrialize nation. For 22 years he had sacrifice all he had to build his nation. He became Prime Minister in the year 1981. From that moment on, he had only one goal. To build the country for his people. To elevate his people out of poverty and propel them into the 21st century.
The Petronas Twin Towers. Tallest twin buildings in the world. Fruits of his thoughts. Radical approach in building technology. Using mostly concrete and not steal. A monument for Malaysia. A symbol of progressiveness of the citizens of Malaysia. A show of things to come from a small country.
The KL Tower. Yet another idea of his. A communications tower with revolving restaurant on top. Putting the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur standing side by side with other cities around the world that has similar concept. Vancouver and Seattle to name a few.
Sepang F1 Circuit. Putting Malaysia into a world callendered event. Bringing in thousands of tourist and automaniacs into the country. The event alone generates substantial income. Rent of equipment, transmission rights, foreign exchange and income for domestic traders and hotels.
Proton. This was one of the greatest contribution to the nation. Proton was created to give his people, all his people regardless of background to own a car. Before proton was created, only the rich and privileged can own a car. Now, nearly all malaysians drives a proton. By the creation of Proton, it's assembly factories and related businesses provides hundreds to thousands of jobs for the Malaysian people.
From the creation of Proton, other similar companies have been born as well. Proton stimulating the automotive industry of the nation. Other companies are;
