The 'West'

One word has always been the core issue of distrust or disgust for the rest of the world, 'The West'. This foxed and worn-down term, 'The West', is itself at issue. It has been used so often that it seems the rest of the planet is not of any importance. Everything is about 'The West'. There is no 'The East' or 'The South'. We hear western leaders pronouncing 'The West' almost everytime they go on air especially the US.

Today, 'The West' means the US and those who follow it. We hear of 'western interest', 'western culture', 'western democracy', 'western values' and 'western ideals' almost everyday. As though other parts of the world, their cultures, heritage and interest are of second and third classes. The US and it's European allies championed 'Freedom and Equality' but yet at the same time say 'the developing countries' and 'third world countries' when addressing other nations that is not 'The West'.

If 'The West' wants to preach about freedom, justice and equality, they should stop using the phrase and declaring themself 'The West'.
